"Let's make your house your home"

trends . . .2010 TRENDS for Home Decor
Trends are a reflection of the world around us.

ECO TREND….now the economy is of more importance in interior design than saving the environment.
We are still very focused on protecting the environment but that has become more a way of life than a trend. The soft economy has people using what they have and infusing it with small touches of luxury, such as new throw pillows and an area rug instead of re-doing the entire room. A back to basics mentality will persist that emphasizes slower living, natural lighting, multifunctional furniture and natural textures. Our throwaway society days are over and this is reflected in a less than perfect aesthetic that has roots in the security of the past
  • Distressed leathers
  • Natural weathered finishes
  • Tapestries
  • Using found objects
Fabrics and wallpapers are reminiscent of the 60’s and 70’s with an updated twist. Wallpaper is back but in small doses such as an accent wall or small bath.

The main focus in home furnishings is a combination of comfort, style and elegance. Furniture styles are eclectic. You can expect to see:
  • Metallic finishes
  • Asian influences
  • Bright sofas
  • Modular furniture
Color trends
  • Vibrant global colors such as tomato reds and teal greens will be paired with more neutral brown earth tones.
  • Less is more, simplified mentality, will be reflected in sheer translucent grays and whites.
  • Bright energetic floral colors the evoke optimism for a positive balance to the negative stresses around us. A good example of this is the return of the happy yellows.
  • The one color that all the color forecasters seem to agree on as the color of 2010 is purple -- from plum to violet shades.
